2012 Winners

At a special Best Practices Workshop and Awards Ceremony on November 15, 2012, The New York Community Trust, New York Magazine, the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York and Philanthropy New York announced the three winners of the 2012 New York Community Trust-New York Magazine Nonprofit Excellence Awards:

Red Hook Initiative - Gold Prize Winner for Overall Management Excellence
Red Hook Initiative partners with community adults to nurture young people in Red Hook (Brooklyn) to be inspired, resilient, and healthy and to envision themselves as co-creators of their lives, community and society.

Harlem RBI - Silver Prize Winner for Management Excellence
Harlem RBI uses the power of teams to coach, teach and inspire inner-city youth to recognize their potential to realize their dreams.

Open Door Family Medical Center  - Bronze Prize Winner for Management Excellence
Open Door Family Medical Center provides quality primary health care and human services at affordable prices to the community, particularly low-income, under-served residents and those lacking access to health care.

Award winners were selected by a distinguished Selection Committee of 28 nonprofit experts. The Gold Prize winner received $25,000. The Silver Prize winner received $10,000, and the Bronze Winner, $5,000. All winning organizations were featured in a full-page ad in New York Magazine and received tuition scholarships for the Programs in Social Enterprise in Executive Education at Columbia Business School.
